2024 Year of Engagement

We declared 2024 the Year of Engagement: a year for speaking up, stepping in, seizing every opportunity to enroll, invite, and bring our gifts. Engagement is a process of reaching out, of getting involved, and of encouraging others. Aligned with the purpose and community of the School for Leadership, engagement gives each of us the opportunity to be and act in ways and in areas that will make a real difference for ourselves and others.

The regional Three-Day Residential Clinics in April and May marked the half-way point of Year One for the cohort. These residential clinics were all led by local volunteers. Each regional learning group has made significant steps toward operating as a community rather than a group. This learning carries over into how each participant operates in the communities they serve.

There were two Leadership Dialogues centered on the distinctions Integrity and Authenticity. These two-and-a-half hour zoom calls are an opportunity for all participants across regions discuss and work more deeply on each distinction.

There were three Audio Offerings, on the distinctions Coaching, Silence & Centering, and Enrollment. These one-hour, professionally produced recordings are derived from relevant sections of the curriculum. The Fifth Cohort's second residential Colloquium was held in Northern Ireland in November and was a testament to Engagement. War had prevented those from the Isreal/Palestine region from attending the Year One colloquium in 2023. Participants who had built rapport and comradery across regions through electronic means were now in each other's presence sharing space, meals, and conversation with all of the nuance and relatedness made possible being together in this way. Our committed School Builders came together and delivered an outstanding year of Engagement for our participants and our community.
